These primitive and really old circuits carried telephone connections between subscribers and the operators' board offered phone service in this sleepy Maine community about a century ago. Party lines were commonly the practice for many years along rural routes like this one and in many instances were another means of communication and/or getting the latest "news" along those on the openwire pair...
