I believe this was a portion of the main line between CT and NYC. The railroad's telegraph line looks like it was being rebuilt around the time this picture was taken. Note the apparent "newer" and "older" lines along the left as well as another pole line along the right. This image certainly would be valuble to anyone poking around this area nowadays...although I am unsure what it looks like in 2012....
