A walking path through snow drifts after an apparent blizzard got the residents, mailmen, postal workers, milkmen, meter readers and others fulfilling their routes is shown here. In the background is an electric utility pole. It has an incandescent street light upon it. Like most others of its type during its day, it ran on a series-loop system electrically-similar to a string of Christmas lights. A provision was made within the lamp socket to keep the rest of the loop lit when any of the lightbulbs in the circuit burned out. I will bet this scene looked truly wonderful beyond words at night when the snow was illuminated by the intrinsic white, concise light from this street light fixture. The wires on the left side of the forementioned pole's crossarm were for local consumer electric service (110 volts or thereabouts). PS...Note the pole steps which apparently were used for street lamp bulb replcements.
