Milbridge, ME c.1915 Phone Junction Box Pole

The large wooden box on this pole was a common method for combining telephone open-wire to paired cable. Typically these cabinets had two doors and opened from the middle. A technician's platform was provided beneath for working with the wires. From there, paired covered cable led to the community's central switchboard office.
