A end to my Driveway Display, so colorless now!!! BooHoo. This is 24 hours later...Friday afternoon...I supplied the lineman with the porcelain spools I had so he could swap them out. They were brown pierce spools. It takes a lot to change out these insulators, but they had nothing to do until the hasmat crew came to check out the transformer for psb's. The lineman wanted some of these jewels too.

The lineman changing it out collected insulators too and said to have about 150 different ones, most from the Chicago area where he worked from. With so much damage from the wind damage Com ed had to call out outside crews. . He first saw this and said I have to get these down. Well I told him I've been waiting for 32 years for these too . So he let me have one amber spool and a squirrel guard and a clear spool. He took the lightning arrestor. I had a lightning arrestor anyway, but I was trying to get more spools. He was nice and we compromised . I gave him some insulators for his collection he didn't have so it was a win win deal. He said he never ever seen this around and said this was a very old setup. His first sighting of a amber spool in service! He never worked Rockford, Illinois before. He said the most unusual insulator he had was a Hemingray 25 ,The door knobs....He found them on a lone pole in the Chicago suburbs.

I showed him some of the wild colored insulators I had, a electric blue mickey with swirls and a yellow California helmet. In the bright sunlight of the afternoon, it just shown it's beauty. He was amazed by the color and his partner never knew they existed. No wonder why we collect these jewels!

Funny he mentioned of a lineman swapping out two HH commemoritive jumbos in the chicago area...LOL....He thought that was halarious...He didn't know the other lineman though...I'm sure Larry Veneziano won't like that!
