The crew today was replacing an old aging transmission pole/removing the heavy porcelain suspension bells and installing a new pole with polymer HV insulators. This line originates at the old COPCO (California Oregon Power Company) Irongate dam and powerhouse on the Klamath River near Hornbrook California. It travels over the high mountain range to Ashland, Oregon and eventually ends in Klamath County, Oregon. IT was constructed approx. 1918-1925. Quite an assortment of old original install and replacement suspension bells are found on the line. Today we hit pay dirt if you are a suspension collector. Lots of pictures to follow. The new pole is in place and the old pole is getting ready to be removed. |
