So, I followed the railroad north to Bain Station Road, probably three miles or so, looking for a dumpster or any other signs of line materials. Bingo! There it was! There were cut-down poles, coiled wire, and cut crossarms. The remains were left at the pole site. Again, there were truck tracks on the more vehicle-acccessible side of the railbed. The removal "technique" consists of removing the line wire, cutting the crossarms with a chainsaw, cutting down the pole, while leaving the pole stump behind. Clearly, these guys are doing it on the cheap. All the insulators that I saw were Hemingray CD 152, CD 154, CD 155, HGCO CD 145, and a few plastic HK Porters. I glommed a half dozen CD 152s and a couple of hives just for posterity. I walked maybe a half mile of line. |
