Here's a rare and only three known (to my knowledge) porcelain no-tie insulator made by Luis Berenguer in Barcelona, Spain circa 1894-1902. Although the piece is not listed in their early 1903 catalog their logo is clearly seen on the insulator [id=336007195]! The company was purchased by Manufacturas Ceramicas who I believe adopted Berenguer's logo. Earlier version of this insulator was exported into Spain by Buller Jobson in England but the design was successfully copied and slightly modified (the hooks are tapered and wider but not pointed and the slot for the wire is nearly straight) by Luis Berenguer. An early magazine article dated 1910 boasts that all the telegraph lines in the country are using Luis Berenguer's porcelain insulators. This example displays VNM+ with only some wiregroove rust and one small bb glaze ping but is missing the inner skirt and so is priced accordingly to the first email for only $275 plus postage. Don't snooze! Thanks! |
