There seems to be a lot of confusion amongst those interested about the different mold types of early Hemingray No.9's and 12's, so I took some photos to try and do a pictorial. The 12 does not go back quite as far as the 9, Hemi likely continuing to sell the No.11 as their double-groove pony for a while. The earliest 12 is a Script. I omitted the Prismic that should follow on the right, as these are pretty obvious and do not need clarity like the ones shown. Hemingray No. 9's can be found in a similar evolutionary lineup and I will post a photo of those as well. [id=335238015] 1. Script. Note loose, handwritten look and lightly cut engraving. 2. EVO 1. Retains loose look of Script lettering, but more deeply cut like the Prismic style. 3. EVO 2. Note lighter cut engraving, but concise linear look like Prismic style. View "original" to see detail better. If you have further questions, feel free to email. I always enjoy discussing early Hemi ponies. |
