A huge pile of cross arms with insulators from the local BNSF Railroad piled on the farmers property near Somonauk, Illinois. A few local collectors have gone through the pile, but many of the neat good stuff probably is still buried. I looked and most collectors will pass on these insulators, unless you want to do a project or buy the crossarms. I really didn't think there was a insulator worth over 3-5 dollars in the pile. Thousands of Hemingray 40-42's and b-hives, a few hawley's and brookfields. Tom Nugent from Ottawa, Illinois said he walked the line decades ago and there really wasn't much to find upon the line. Hawley's and H.G.Co. B-hives. |
