The M-2332 from St Louis arived today in good shape at Paul Greaves house! I promptly cleaned it and this is the result . This shows how nicely steel wool saturated with industrial automotive paint buffing compound will clean glass or porcelain! The after removing 100 years of coal soot and inner city scum (probably at least a little crack pipe smoke pollution as well considering what part of town it was used in)g the glaze is at least two shades lighter. The piece says a number of things that about the story of the early Locke plant including the fact that they were using sulphur cement to to assemble the few multipart insulators they were selling at that early time . It is simply unbelievable that this insulator survived in service with a heavy primary voltage copper cable for 110 years ... In all seriousness this is likely the longest time any cemented multi part has remained in continuous service! Here it was ... in 2010 [id=327343233]... photo taken in 2010 by Pat Scott when the piece was discovered in service.
