Up for sale is an extremely scarce pair of Canadian insulators for the discerning collector of Dominion glass products. These two styles, the CD 122 [040] and CD 108 [055] respectively, are quite scarcely encountered with a small number embossed backwards at the top of the pinhole, so that they appear forwards when viewed from the dome. I'm not entirely sure why some Dominion insulators possessed embossed numbers in the tops of their pinholes, though I have been told that it was related to the movement of some glass presses to Dominion's Alberta plant location. So far, I have encountered a grand total of only 4 Dominion CD 122s with numbered pinholes (out of thousands that I have checked), and only 3 Dominion CD 108s. Of these two styles, every numbered pinhole piece has a 1947 date code. I'm not sure of the significance of this date, but I can tell you that these two pieces are quite scarce. CD 155 and CD 164 styles I have encountered significantly more of with numbered pinholes. Both pieces here are a light straw colour, and have different numbers. The CD 122 is numbered "21", while the CD 108 is numbered "23". Unfortunately the embossing in the pinhole does not show up well in photographs, but I assure you that it is there. Both pieces are in VNM condition. I can't really see anything wrong with the CD 122, but the CD 108 has a very small fleabite connected to a small scratch above the front upper wire ridge. I'm asking $25.00 U.S. plus shipping for these two pieces for those with a taste for rarely encountered insulator variations. I accept PayPal, money orders or bank cheques, or personal cheques from any member of ICON, or anyone I have dealt with before. Please feel free to look through my previously unsold items in the "For Sale (Not Sold)" folder, and combine purchases to save on shipping. |
