Sometime around early December, I went on an insulator hunt/dig on a neighbor's ranch here in rural Montana. To get to the insulators, I had to go through a barbed wire fence, down a steep, crumbling slope, cross a dried up creek 6 feet wide by 7 feet deep, cross a dried up river (with vertical sides) twice, walk through 5 foot high grass and sagebrush and then cross the same, dried up winding river three more times! Then it was a miles walk to the insulators through rattlesnake territory (thank god most of them were hibernating!). The things I will do for some insulators! |
