The holiday season is fast approaching, and I have decided to part with great top shelf piece. This CD 253 Knowles [020] cabletop insulator is definitely a screamer, just begging to be looked at. A touch of amber flows through the insulator giving the brilliant yellow green color a slight olive look, too. There's even a couple of neat bubbles and a small potstone right at the surface of the glass in the ears, as well as a nice size stone underneath the left ear. This piece was shown at a recent insulator show, and it got heavy attention throughout the day. When it was first unwrapped from the box, a few people immediately flocked over to it. Stories were told of how one like this hasn't been seen in quite a while, and there definitely aren't that many known with such vibrancy. Even as I type this right now, it's sitting on an unlit shelf in a fairly dark room on a gloomy day, and it's still the bright focal point of the room!

Condition: The insulator displays VVVNM+ from the front, even with the train soot surrounding the embossing. I never cleaned it off because it seems to add a little character and boldness to the embossing. The back of the right ear has a micro-thin flake from the peak of the ear down to about 1/8 inch above the bottom of the ear. The flake is concentrated almost completely on the rear of the ear with very, very little of the side of the ear affected. You would have to turn the insulator 90 degrees before realizing there is any damage. Looking through the ear from the front, there is absolutely no indication of the damage. The only other damage to report is very minor. There is a very small fisheye over the O in "KNOWLES", a smaller fisheye under the last E in "PATENTED", and a 1/8 inch flake on the inner skirt. A picture of the flake on the ear will be provided in the next post, but if you need any more pictures, please do not hesitate to ask.

Price: Current book value on this insulator is $250-300 for Yellow Green, and $400-500 for Dark Yellow Green. I think with the amber throughout, this piece would be one of those tweener colors between the two. Taking into consideration the damage, I am asking $220 plus shipping. When was the last time you saw one of these for sale? Now is your chance to get it! You've seen the other "stocking stuffers" listed on here, but this is the ULTIMATE stocking stuffer!
