Up for sale is are a couple supurb Canadian telegraph pieces in great colour and with great character! The example on the right and at bottom is a G.N.W. TEL. CO. CD 145 in the normal [010] embossing style, but in an odd colour combination - a steel blue base colour with fine purply swirls all throughout the dome that give it a lavender or light purple coloured dome. This shows up beautifully against a white background, especially in natural light. I can only imagine how great the piece would look in a backlit display cabinet! This piece was dug up my father, Henry Nicpon, in the autumn of 2010 along a S.W. Ontario rail line. This is one of the more well-defined two tones we have ever found! The condition of the two-tone piece is not the best, but is generally not too bad. It looks pretty good from the front, but the full damage description in decreasing order of severity is as follows: pair of slightly whitened no glass missing wire groove flakes on the right hand side of the wire groove, opposite each other along the wire groove; 1/4" by 3/16" fisheye flake on the left wire groove right in between the wire groove and base; 1/2" flat base flake on the rear base edge; 1/4" ping above the right side of the wire groove in front; 1/4" ping below the "T" in the embossing; a few scattered pings on the rear skirt and front crown. No beating about the bush on this one - it's in rough shape from having been used, abused, and then dumped and buried before finally being dug up years later. The example on the left at top is a normal aqua G.N.W. TEL. CO. CD 145, in the same [010] mould style, but with a beautiful stringer of amber swirls running throughout the front skirt and around into the rear skirt. This one was picked east of London, ON around 2005 or so and was swimming in a sea of hundreds of similar 'hives with no discernable impurities whatsoever. About a half dozen special ones were recovered in that area, this being one of the best amber swirled examples! Additional photos are available upon request. The condition of the amber swirled piece is quite good, with a 1/4" ping on the rear crown, a 1/8" ping on the front crown and two 1/8" pings on the dome top. Pretty good for 90+ years of service! I'm asking $35.00 U.S. plus shipping for the two tone, which will still display like the beautiful piece that it is. These don't turn up often, so don't miss this chance to grab an affordable one! The amber swirled piece I'd like to get $10.00 plus shipping for. I will sell the pair for $40.00 U.S. plus shipping. I accept PayPal, money orders or bank cheques, or personal cheques from any member of ICON, or anyone I have dealt with before. Please feel free to look through my previously unsold items in the "For Sale (Not Sold)" folder, and combine purchases to save on shipping. |
