Just moseying along today on an old private access road servicing a handful of homestead type ranches dating to the early 1920's and stumbled upon this old cross arm and porcelain U-154 NN Pittsburg MLOD porcelain beehives. The rancher was out mending fences so I struck up a conversation with him. The arm and insulators were originally on the poles across the road many years ago but the phone company came through and removed all the open wire and left the arms with insulators at the base of all the poles. The ranchers scrounged all the timber for fencing and building. Insulators were either thrown away or used on electric fence works. Additional pictures to follow. |
