A huge temporary 'crutch' built by Portland (OR.) General Electric Co. This was the result of a street and intersection widening at 17th and Holgate, which apparently left the traffic signal power lines hanging over the intersection. You can see the short cut off pole section with the crossarm and insulators attached to the monster braces. I was driving there and saw this and had to pull over! I apologize for the lousy photo quality. I took this in the 1980's with one of those throw away cameras ;-/ that I carried in my van. Remember those? Who needs them now, with cell phone cameras? The 115kV power line on the TALLL poles with the wishbone crossarms is a Pacific Power transmission line on joint poles with PGE. Gotta be 90 footers! This is timber country! |
