These circuits connected Boston, MA, Portland, ME (and other points-north) with Providence, RI, New York City, and other points-south. This line ran along the existing AMTRAK route. I believe this 1890s 6-pin telegraph line was upgraded from iron-wire to hard-drawn copper in the mid to later teens utilizing 10-pin crossarms and lots of CD 145 and CD 152 insulators. The insulators seen here likely were CD 145 Brookfields of the 1880's and 1890's. Those in resuable condition were installed along the "new" line along with hardware that also was in good condition. |
