This pole, with it's old 3 phase rocker (aka 'Frankenstein') switch, guards the entrance to the fairgrounds in the town of St. Paul, Oregon. St. Paul, unlike it's namesake back east, is a small farming community in rural western Oregon, ( pop. 322). The biggest event of the year for it is the St. Paul Rodeo, which takes place every July, at this fairground. The switchgear, unlike many I have seen, has small insulators on it, which suggests that it may have been used by PGE on 2.4 or 4kV at one time. It is now on 7.2/12.5 kV. and seems to be primarily for the lights in the fairground, but could be for all the power there. I am gonna hafta call in Dr. David Dahle to analyze just what these antique looking devices on the lower crossarm are doing. Perhaps primary metering for lights? To see more, click NEXT. |
