As I was tooling thru the rural farm country in Solano County CA. I found this 'brakestomper' ! Got out and took a closer look, asking myself what they were! It didn't dawn on me until I got the photo and a closer look. They seem to be some kind of poly rubber bird protectors that just fit around the wire and over the top of an ordinary porcelain bowl type insulator. They will definately keep those large birds from getting a fatal phase to phase hit of 12,000 volts!

You may be surprised to know the massive amount of money the electric utility industry is now spending on power line bird protection. You will find out as your electric bill keeps on rising!
