A first generation (around 1948 to 52) transformer pole on the Tillamook, OR. P.U.D. system. The line has been rebuilt and my friend, the line foreman says it will be replaced next week. I hate to see it go, since it has been untouched for many years and is the last pole of it's kind visible from Highway 101. So, I asked the foreman to cut the pole off just below the crossarm braces and I will take the whole assembly. He said "will do" ! The 24.940 kV line sports some early (for this utility) brown insulators, JD multipart M-2327's and some Victor U-414 "lampshades". The pole top pin setup is odd and fell out of use early on. The top insulators are on huge rods with a special type holding brackets with thru-bolts for double insulators. The cutout is an old style A.B. Chance spring link mounted on a salt air increaser insulator. The transformer is an early RTE (as in Rust 'til Eternity). ;-) Photo taken by Dave Dahle when he was out here in 2008. We drove out of our way just to see this classic pole. The consolation prize is that....I now own it! (at least the top) ! Looks like another yard display here at M.S.P

........UPDATE This pole is now cut down to just above the communication lines as of Oct. 14. It's now up to CenturyLink Tel. and Charter Cable to do the rest. Possible that they may leave it as is. Now I gotta figure out what to do with the upper part of it!
