A long range shot of both poles in Orick, CA. Sadly, the "grasshopper" spring link cutouts on the foreground pole 12kV have been replaced with new sky yuk drop down fuse types that have a unique "rooftop" to protect the metal fuseholder parts and shield the arc upon opening. They are possibly made by S&C and Pigs Goats & Elephants has been on a massive project replacing old cutouts with these. This is based on what I observed by driving thru a large part of this territory last week.

As much as I like the old power stuff, it is replaced in the interest of good and reliable service, as well it should be!
