Kern River Tower

Here is a shot of just one of the 60-foot, Kern River towers, taken at the intersection of Tower Line Road and California Hwy 223. Could those be the original, gray, suspension strings, installed back in the 1920's (replacing the classic, gray M-4800's)? Or, are those just modern "sky-yucks"? From the length of the strings, it appears that the line was kept at its original 75kv. Or, over the years, has it been scaled back to Southern California Edison's more typical, 66kv? Photo is from a slide taken back in 1998. Nevertheless, those towers are still there.
