And last, but not least, the tailrace on the downstream side of the dam. Look how quiet the water is, compared to the flow down the spillway! The turbines have extracted a lot of energy from the water. My best guess is that there are three impulse turbines in use here, running with something like 12-15 feet of head. You can derive a lot of work, even at that low head. I'm thinking something in the 1000 HP range for each turbine or 750KW for each alternator would be a reasonable guess. I have seen a Leffel turbine disassembled, which made something like 30 HP with around 3-4 feet of head, enough to run a grist mill.
