Nice open-wire secondary drops on this one also with a classic 10-pin, heavily creosoted crossarm underneath for open-wire telephone service by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company (NET&T.Co) Those crossarms were designed/specified by Ma Bell to last forever. Near one of their ends *always* was a NET&TCo. pole tag.. I remember LOTS of them as a kid living in nearby Brockton, MA in the 1960s. All of the NET-Brockton, MA-district's open-wire primarily was on side streets and replaced by paired cable by 1966. It *sure* was fun looking through the piles of insulators behind NET's headquarters smelling all of that creosote behind their S. Main Street, Brockton construction department facility back then! BTW there are still some of NET's vintage and sturdy crossarms still faithfully surviving (from many decades ago!) supporting Verizon and Comcast cabling where more space from the pole towards the street has been needed. And those arms (and sometimes having pins) look like they are in great shape too ;-) PS..I have no idea who the smiling kid in this photo is. I really wish it was me back in those great days ;-) Joe ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ |
