Just how much can you cram onto one set or residential poles? Here is a shot of Delaware St, in San Mateo, California, taken back in 1999. At the tops of these 70-foot poles, is a 60kv subtransmission line, on Locke M-4327a multiparts. Next, there is a main 12kv line (unfortunately though, the old Ohio Brass M-2619's were just upgraded to new sky-yucks). Then, there is a 4kv distribution feeder, on Thomas uniparts, followed by some 120/240 household lines, using mostly CD 162's and 164's, and finally, a few fire-alarm circuits, on an assortment of glass signals. About the only thing missing is an arm of trolley feeder cables. |
