You just have to love the cleverness of some long-ago NorthWestern Public Service crew - how they threw together a set of open-link cutouts using cap and pin insulators and a few other "bits and bobs"... It would still be there, but the failure of one cap and pin insulator in the grasshopper switch above eventually forced a rebuild of the 34.5kV side of this substation with modern equipment.
