Photograph taken during February 1967 near the intersection of West 17th Stret and North King Streets. Here we see some older (but still typically in use) 4kv distribution. In addition, the mercury vapor street lights as seen were powered by a 6.6 ampere series street lighting circuit. An isolation transformer on the pole for the rated lamp (400 watts) provided the proper voltage upon starting. This auxilary "can-shaped" device is seen on the crossarm wired to the fixture in the top extreme top right-hand side of this image. |
