The really old (1920s) fixture you see here was an old incandescent one that operated from a 6.6 ampere street series lighting circuit that ran across the top crossarms. A few of these old lights exactly as you see the one here are still in service! The two wires that fed this light are separated by a guy wire breaker insulator seen on the second pole in the background. This scene is also supplemented by a 120/240 volt open-wire secondary circuit (lower crossarm) serving customers in this neighborhood (near the intersection of Council Street and Normandie Avenue.) |
