A few years ago I wrote an article for CJOW about our finding 2 new unlisted CD 737.5 colors. My father and I have been working the location where these were found over the past few years with little success, mostly just smaller shards of some nice threaded and threadless pieces. Last week Dad was working the area and turned up a nice big shard of a CD 737 or CD 738 (cannot confirm which for sure) in a nice dark teal color. This past weekend I happened to be visiting my parents and we went back to check out the area. It was getting late in the day but we started working over the area looking for surface finds. Just before we were about to take off I stumbled upon a small piece/sliver of cobalt glass. I knew it was from a CD 737.5 based on the amount of micro bubbles in it. We decided to dig around this area to see if we could find more. After about 2 mins of digging I got my digging hoe stuck in a small patch of bushes so I decided to dig the other direction. Dad kept working my way and then I heard him make a nice yell. I came over and we both stared a this beautiful piece of glass that was looking back at us. It is the most complete example we have recovered to date. We dug a bit more and turned up 2 more skirt pieces. We frustratingly ran out of time and I was headed back to my home the next morning. We are confident the rest of the insulator is there to be found, just a matter of working the area. Back half of this piece is still missing, but I believe it to be the most complete example currently in the hobby. It stands up on it's own no problem which is great. Man what a thrill and what a color. Ill get more pics when I can, of course the camera is broken to and we only got one snap shot. Enjoy |
