The local utility has been building a substation across the street from me for a few months. This was a picture I took while they were hooking up to the 69Kv line in front of my house. The short pole is the original double deadend that is being incorporated into the new setup. They had to used taller poles to get the clearance where the new line crosses the distribution lines.

It's a busy area since there is a 7.2Kv distribution line on one side of the road, a 69Kv transmission line on my side, a 230Kv line that passes above them all in front of my house AND the substation being built across the street from me. How cool is that!?
