This poor photo is the only photo I know of an early power line here in Oregon that used the gray glazed M-2140 Victor multiparts. The line was built between Forest Grove and Hillsboro OR. in the 1908 to 1912 era by Haines Electric Co. Almost all of these multiparts were later re-used by the Portland General Electric Co. and it's predecessors on it's 24,000 and later 12,500 volt lines in the same area of Washington County, OR. Today, there are about 40 something of them still left in service. Most people don't know that their power is coming to them over 100+ year old insulators and could care less anyway as long as the lights are on! |
