I recently acquired this beehive through a trade here on ICON. It was described as having a spring in it, but it was difficult to distinguish the shape in the posted pics. After the trade was agreed upon and I received the piece, the spring was much more identifiable in person. It is a fairly hefty metal torsion spring, much like those that were used on the earlier style tin snips to keep the handles in an open position. Who knows, it could have even come from a specialty-type glass making tool? The image to the right gives you a better look at what a smaller torsion spring looks like.
I am actively seeking items like this found in glass insulators to buy or trade. Trade information is available when you [id=297269120]
