I acquired this neat sidepin in a small collection I purchased in the Medford area. The owner was an elderly man who worked as a lineman most of his life, mostly in the northwest. Along with an entire wheel of unused sidepins, I also acquired this single loose sidepin with a shipping label. The label is attached to the threaded portion of the sidepin with fine wire. Apparently, "UTC OF THE NORTHWEST" purchased sidepins from a supply house in Mansfield, Ohio. I can't tell for sure how much of the label is missing. But close examination suggests that only about 1/2" is gone... and the full name of the Mansfield supply house was "NORTH ELECTRIC CO." The next two photos show closeups of the label. By the way, Merrill, Oregon is a tiny farming community south of Klamath Falls, and practically on the border with California. It's virtually a ghost town today, surrounded by potato farms. |
