I always wondered what the true function of the rather oddly-shaped CD 695 was, and Bernie Warren from Alaska has the answer - it holds a cut-off switch (coupe-circuit), which can be pulled "off" with an insulated pole with a hook on the end. The CD 695 is a very rare and desirable collecotr' item, as reflected by the price. And I've seen others without the hardware for $150 more.
