Found this in the scrap metal bin at my local utility. The yellow paint on the can is somewhat historic to me (despite that someone made a failed attempt to scrape it off) since I remember that TPUD painted all their transformers safety yellow in the early 1950's. The only power utility I had ever seen do this. The can was a typical REA spec. double hanger transformer. The lid is missing and would have had a single brown bushing insulator sticking straight up with a lightning arrestor next to it. The stenciled transformer number 147 is barely visible. I can't make out the kVA rating but the can size looks to be about a 5 kVA. Old can 147 is now my official shop trash can! Ugly or not. |
