This is a very unique piece and I've not seen another one similar to it before. It is a recent acquisition from the Yankee Pole Cat "On Golden Pond" show from this year and the seller was uncertain as to its origins. The insulator is either a U-1406 or something very similar and measures roughly 2 3/8" x 2 7/8" with a 3/8" pin-hole. Even though Worldwide Porcelain Insulators lists the U-1406 as being produced by Bullers, Taylor, and Tuncliffe, the glaze just doesn't seem to match. To me, it looks far too much like a Pittsburg (or similar American) glaze. Does anyone know anything about this piece? |
