The Canyonville Show always features free appraisals for walk-in items, followed by "on the spot" silent auctions for anyone willing to sell their items. If the seller is not satisfied with the high bid, they may decline and keep their items. As far as we know, this tradition began with the 2000 Medford Show. It proved wildly popular... with dealers, because some great rare items have come "out of the woodwork," and with the public, because they are thrilled to get cash for glass items they had no idea held value. Several other clubs have since adopted this on-site appraisal/auction practice. It has also crept into the bottle hobby. It is a great way to promote interest in your show and bring new items into the hobby. In this photo, we see a great grouping of insulators that "walked into" Canyonville this year.
