Here is a grouping of teal bottles and insulators that were loaned by show attendees as examples of "teal." Unfortunately, there were not many participants in this display, so the showing was a very "thin" representation of teal. Even though there was a ledger and ballots to rate each item, hardly anyone participated. Only three comments were offered, and each one favored the bottles... basically saying the insulators in the display were not teal at all, but rather dark shades of green, blue, or aqua. Frankly, I must agree. With the exception of the midnight blue diamond pony furnished by Mid Norris, my own personal opinion is that all the other insulators had "teal influences" at best (this includes my own CD 133 Brookfield). When placed alongside some of the intense teal bottles, most of the insulators just lost their pizzazz. My lousy point and shoot camera skills did not help either. That said, I hope to setup this display at a very large insulator show in the future... where much more interest can be generated, with an exclusive focus on insulators. I believe it would be very revealing to line up some of the best teal threadless, diamond ponies, Mexican glass, etc... I know there are some "drop-dead" teal pieces in this hobby. Perhaps at the San Jose National next year? We'll see! |
