Tacoma Power has been doing work on their two 115kV transmission lines that come from the Cushman Dams. Here they just re-did this line tap, new switches, higher poles. They still must have work left to do since they have this circuit grounded and the tap is coming off the other circuit. Peninsula Power & Light (my provider) buys power from the BPA which is 'wheeled' through these lines. Each sub or tap line used an A / B selector switch to choose which line to take power from. These selector switches have been getting a workout lately since they've been doing upgrades on both circuits. Look at the full resolution view of this photo. You can see all the new shiny ground wires going between the insulator bolts and the switch hardware. |
