It pays to recheck areas you hunted befor.... The next three photos are of a 95% complete origional cement Thomas M-3890 that was found in part three years ago by Paul Greaves, Carver Mead, and myself .( [id=259458094] to see a complete restored one) We did not find enough of any of the skirts to this insulator at the time to deem any worth saving. Fast forward three years and I decided to go and re-dig the site again and look for the missing parts . Well ...scattered out from where we found the original stuff I found the large missing part of the crown and top with parts of the center and base skirts still cemented in ! BINGO!!! It is now a restorable Thomas M-3890 with original cement! Very few 3890's that I reconstructed were composed of all three skirts from the same original insulator . This is one of only three Thomases that fit this description. It really pays to recheck dig sites sometimes and also to NOT take parts of insulators that could perhaps later be found. BTW...This is what nearly all the 3890's now in collector hands looked like when they were first found in the wild .It will take several days of work to turn this jigsaw puzzle into an insulator again! See the next three photos for more pictures of the other skirts. |
