It's feels great to discover a piece on a line, at a yard sale or on the ground. But to have someone pull up to the shop the other day with these and a few others that he'd just got at a yard sale is just too cool. Yup, I met Arnold at "his" yardsale about a month ago & got talking with him about his career of 30 years as a lineman in eastern Colorado, and about my interest in insulators and other aspects of the hobby. Well, darn if he didn't remember me when he saw these at a yard sale and brougt them right over. Heck, I couldn't even talk him into taking more than the $16.00 he paid for them all (but he didn't refuse a few ripe tomatoes from my garden). He says he'd have saved a few of the hundreds he tossed out years ago if he'd known people would actually be collecting them someday. If there's one thing I've learned as I speak with these folks... most truly enjoyed, and miss what they did for a living and enjoy sharing some of their stories and knowledge with folks like us that show a genuine interest. Take the time to hear a bit of history while some of those folks that made it are still with us.
