Page 1 of a booklet published by the Baltimore and Ohio Telegraph Company about 1885 as a forty year historical tribute to Morse's electric telegraph. Printing can be attributed to the American Banknote Company - - though the covers are missing - from this copy due to articles in the Library of Congress matching this style and containing the flying birds and character "Puck" seen here atop the telegraph pole. The title says "Electric B and O" but this pre-dates electrification of the railroad locomotives in the 1890s to avoid smoke in the tunnels leading the the Washington D.C. station. |
