This stretch of power line across the tidelands in Miami Cove, about 1 mile east of my house on Tillamook Bay, Oregon will soon disappear, along with another stretch of power line just east of it. Highway 101 makes a huge sweeping curve to the east, north then west to get around the Miami River entrance to the bay. Just east of the highway a large federally funded wetlands project is underway to restore the river channel and get rid of invasive plant species. They say the ultimate goal is to restore salmon habitat on the river. So, the power lines in the areas affected are going underground. I somewhat hate to see the lines go across the stretch in this photo because it is the original line route dating back to the early days of Coast Power Co. and Mountain States Power Co.
