You don't see many of these any more but I spotted this one on a PGE pole in Yamhill County, OR. The fuse tube just clamps on the wire with a hotstick and must be disconnected the same way. No handy fuseholder for it to drop open in. I would suppose line service persons hated them for that reason.. more work! This particular fuse is also the transformer fuse for the pole in the farmyard it serves, which would be behind me in the photo.
