On vacation last week we visited the Keweenaw Peninsula in northern Michigan - the copper mining capital of the world from about 1860 to 1920. This Shorpy picture from Houghton I think was referenced on ICON a while back, but I'm not sure. I happened to take some pictures in Houghton and didn't look up Shorpy pictures until I got home. If I had done it the other way around, I could've gotten a better then vs. now comparison, but, I did manage to get a shot of the same building shown here. See the next picture. |
