KARHULA HEL-2 clear glass insulator, firmly cemented onto a large very rusty iron hook. FWIW, this insulator was found at the Brimfield Flea Market a couple months prior to the National, and sent to me by friend Dave. Base diameter is 2 1/8 inches, height is 2 1/2 inches. Flat top dome.

In the next two photos, I have cut off most of the iron hook, and cleaned out a major part of the cement inside the pinhole, by very patiently picking it out, after a few days' soaking with white vinegar. THis does seem to soften the cement, and it definitely cleans up the rusty iron (so does soaking in Coca Cola). Just a bit more of this procedure and I should be able to free it from its pin, hopefully without having to resort to industrial strength chemicals..

Not currently sure of the CD number for this one.
