I would have loved to poke around the town records office to see what happened to the property at 26 lake street over the years but I could not b/c it was saturday. I guess I am going to have to go back. I did find a blurb in the local paper about the fire that damaged the plant. According to the January 19 1900 edition of the Somerville Journal "The plant of the New England Glass company on Lake street was damaged to the amount of $3500 by fire last evening. The promptness of the department prevented a fire of serious proportions. " The article from the Boston Daily globe is much more detailed but at least my assumption that the Somerville Journal had to have published something about the fire was correct.
