Just a bit of proof that these were probably hauled out to the line in containers packed with straw. This one came off the Cripple Creek Co toll line back in the 1960's. The straw was wedged between the top of the pin and the inside dome of the insulators. I'm guessing lack of air while on the pin and being packed away for the last forty some odd years has kept it looking as new as the day it got trapped in there
