A close up view of the previous pole. Rusty transformers (rusty Anything iron) are common here in the salt air although many transformer cans are now stainless steel, this one escaped. It really looks terrible in "view original" and it will probably hang there until the bottom rusts out and oil spills! Note the big S&C sky-yuk fuse cutout mounted on a brown "pineapple" (lineman lingo) for this increaser insulator to combat salt flashover. To see the next old pole at the corner click NEXT. UPDATE 12/9/11: This old rusty ugly RTE transformer has been replaced with a shiney new stainless steel transformer. My utility did the neighborhood a favor before this old can spilled oil on the ground and made a mell of a hess !
